Waka Restaurant and Bar brings together art and food showcasing a fusion of Latin American flavors combined with Japanese seasonings in a truly unique taste experience.
Located in The Oberoi Hotel Business Bay, Waka offers a sophisticated level of dining, with an inviting vibe created by the warmth of the service and the resident DJ setting the mood. It brings together the perfect blend of service, style, and design, creating a setting for both an intimate and fun dining experience.
With live cooking at the ceviche bar and a vegetarian menu in addition to the a-la-carte offering, Waka caters to a diverse crowd and sets the scene for a great night out.
Co-Founder & Director
Roberto Segura’s passion for cooking started at a young age in Peru where he was born and raised and where he was exposed to the rich flavors and diverse tastes of Northern Peruvian food. He started his career as a chef in some of Lima’s top Peruvian eateries before moving to Dubai in 2011 where he worked on the opening of Toro Toro restaurant in Grosvenor House and as head chef at The Act in the Shangri La Hotel.
In 2015 Roberto joined 3 Hospitality and led the launch of Craft Café -the first concept of the group in Dubai’s Design District offering hearty, healthy and soulful food.
Having successfully established the first concept, Roberto went on to lead the team with the opening of Waka Restaurant & Bar in 2017 bringing a true taste of Latin American culture to Dubai.
Roberto has cemented his place amongst the top Chefs in the city and become renowned for his exciting menus and buzzing ambiance at both venues. Roberto is now regionally recognized with a number of awards including Pro Chef of the Year 2017 and leading Waka team to win the Best America’s restaurant for the BBC Good Food Awards 2017 in addition to winning the favorite America’s restaurant at the 2017 What’s on Awards and many others.
Roberto leads the team at 3 Hospitality in his role as Director and Founder. With his extensive experience in some of the city’s leading restaurants, he uses his culinary expertise and fresh perspective to constantly revamp and introduce new dishes- much to the delight of his loyal fan base.
